Disney Day 3: Hollywood Studios

Ready about Disney Day 1 and Day 2 here.

On day 3 of our trip, we arrived before rope drop to Hollywood Studios in hopes to beat the line to the popular Toy Story Mania ride. It worked! We met up with Aaron’s sister and her family as we were walking in, and we were all able to basically walk right on to the ride. After that, Aaron seized an opportunity to ride Tower of Terror and the Rock n’ Roller Coaster while the lines were short, while the rest of us walked nearby and had a short wait to meet Buzz Lightyear and Woody! Turner was thrilled!

I didn’t realize it at first, but EVERYONE in our party except me was wearing a Toy Story shirt. Although the characters didn’t talk, Buzz and Woody definitely called me out on not wearing a Toy Story shirt. It was a really fun character interaction and very much worth the wait.

Other characters we met at Hollywood Studios included Chewbacca, Doc McStuffins, Star Lordand Santa Clause!

We had lunch at Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano. It was okay, but was not one of my favorite restaurants at Disney. The lighting was dim, and the atmosphere just felt a bit dated to me. The service was fine, but not great, and there was really nothing there to keep Turner’s attention. He was tired, so I was grateful for the break of a sit-down meal. Turner watched a movie on his tablet for the most part during the meal, so it ended up being a good break.

We went to a couple of shows, like Disney Junior Live on Stage, Muppet Vision 3D, Voyage of the Little Mermaid, and Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage. We ate dinner at Backlot Express (Star Wars chicken and waffles), and then made our way over to the Fantasmic show later that night. There were SO MANY PEOPLE there! It was a little crazy getting to our seats, but Turner really enjoyed the show. I was afraid that he would not like the loud booms of the fireworks, but he did really well. We all enjoyed seeing the boats with our favorite characters come by.

Our day at Hollywood Studios was definitely one of the longer days, but we thoroughly enjoyed our time there!
