When it comes to beauty routines, I consider myself to be very low maintenance. Although I do wear makeup pretty much every day, I keep it very fuss-free. I can literally fit ALL of my makeup into one small bag! I do like to take the time to properly care for my skin, though, and over the years I have found my favorite products that I naturally gravitate to. I also like trying new products through my Birchbox subscription. Click on the links below to check out some of my favorites:
Hands down favorite skin care product ever has got to be Fresh Soy Face Cleanser. It’s just so, so good. It’s gentle and leaves my skin feeling clean and fresh. A bonus is that it also removes eye makeup, which saves a step. At $38, it’s kind of pricey (for me anyway), but I will splurge on it because it’s just that good.
A second favorite cleanser is the Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanser. I received a sample in my Birchbox a while back and liked it so much that I ordered the full size. It also removes eye makeup and has a very refreshing scent.
Several months ago, I added a step to my makeup routine on the recommendation of my friend Jennifer. She said that the Benefit Porefessional Primer was a really good product, so I trusted her and gave it a shot, even though I don’t have issues with my pores. This stuff feels amazing and makes my foundation glide on my face perfectly. Love it!
In my teens and early 20’s, I spent countless hours in the sun and in the tanning bed trying to get a tan, because let’s face it, tan skin generally does look more appealing than bright white skin. Looking back, I completely regret the time that I spent trying to get a tan. All of that UV exposure is so dangerous and drastically increases the chance of getting melanoma. Why would I want to put myself at risk for something that is so preventable?! Now I protect my face every morning by spritzing on either the Supergoop Defense Refresh Setting Mist (SPF 50) or the COOLA SPF 30 Organic Makeup Setting Spray. They both smell great and offer sun protection with just a few quick spritzes. I am also much happier these days sporting a tan from a bottle, and my go-to product is St. Moritz Instant Self-Tanning Mousse. It’s inexpensive, easy to apply, and looks very natural. Much safer than sun exposure!
It’s not necessarily a skin care product, but I’ll throw this one in there too just for kicks. Do y’all use a tongue scraper? I don’t even know how/why/when I started using one, but I’ve done it for years and now I can’t live without it! I use one similar to this. I use it first thing every morning and it just leaves my whole mouth feeling so much cleaner. If I was stranded on a deserted island and could only take 3 things, I would have to believe this would be one of my picks!
