I attended Christy Wright’s Business Boutique in Fort Worth last weekend, and to say it was excellent is an understatement! This was a truly phenomenol event that inspired, encouraged, and instructed women who are in any stage of business.
We spent a lot of time talking about creating the vision and mission for our businesses, and then were advised on the practical steps of how to create a realistic business plan. Additionally, we heard from speakers like Rabbi Daniel Lapin (one of the very few men there!) about the dignity, morality, and overall goodness of being in business. I was so intrigued by his talk that I’ve already started reading his book Thou Shall Prosper.
We learned about other necessities of business like taxes and accounting, basic selling principals, how to make the most of social media, and how to create great content. We heard from the founders of Elf on the Shelf, Grace and Lace, and Money Saving Mom. The recurring theme was that each of these multi-million dollar businesses started out with women who were at a low point in their lives and decided to take a leap of faith and pursue an idea that they had. Although these sessions were invaluable, the most amazing takeaway from this event for me were the words of encouragement and motivation. This came not only from the speakers, but from the other women who were attending.
If you’re dreaming of starting a business, have recently started one, or if you’ve been in business for yourself for years, I hope some of the following words will provide inspiration to you like they did to me.
