Weekend recap

My husband works every other weekend, so when he’s off, we try to spend as much time together as a family as we can. This past weekend, we enjoyed the gorgeous weather and spent a lot of time outdoors. Here’s a quick recap:

After dinner Friday night, we all settled down and watched a cute baseball movie called Everyone’s Hero. Turner is usually not into TV (unless it’s Paw Patrol), but this actually kept his attention!

We woke up Saturday morning and spent some time in our big bed being lazy, playing, and watching cartoons. We decided to have brunch at Cracker Barrel. I had the strawberry-lemon french toast, and it did not disappoint. When we got back home, Aaron got Turner down for a nap, and I headed out to hit the outlet mall for a little bit of shopping. I ended up only getting one dress and one pair of pants for myself, and I got a great pair of jeans on sale for Aaron. It was nice to be out and about by myself, but I was glad to get back home by the time my sleepy head little boy was waking up.

We went to church Saturday night. I genuinely LOVE our church and look forward to the messages every weekend. If you’re in the DFW area and are looking for a church, try Gateway!

Unfortunately, I ended up with a pretty severe headache Saturday night, so I went to bed at 7:30 PM. At about 1:30 AM, I woke up to the sound of a helicopter hovering near our neighborhood. We found out that the police were looking for a suspect in our area and were advised to stay inside. Scary! (For me, not for my police officer husband). Thankfully the helicopter eventually went away and we got back to sleep.

I believe my child may be the only kid on the planet who was NOT affected by daylight savings. He actually slept much later than normal (9 AM), so Aaron and I also stayed in bed until then too. It was so nice to sleep in! We spent some time blowing bubbles in the back yard in the morning, and then Aaron grilled burgers for lunch. I went grocery shopping during Turner’s naptime. After we got the groceries put away, I took Ally for a walk, then we all worked in the front yard for quite some time Sunday afternoon. Turner is the best little helper! It was such a beautiful day, so we enjoyed being outside as a family.

We had breakfast for dinner Sunday night, and then it was bath time for Turner. He convinced us that he “needed” to play upstairs for a little while longer before bed, so we let him do that. It was a great weekend! I’m looking forward to the nice Spring weather so we can have many more weekends just like this!
